Many of our customers wonder what the difference is between our HAI solutions and our Crestron solutions. HAI is a UL certified security system that incorporates native control of temperature, lighting (UPB preferred), device control and telephone access. HAI is a solution that customers can access and modify themselves if interested via HAI software. HAI incorporates out-of-the box features to make setup and administration very user friendly. In short HAI is a wonderful “Here is what you get” solution that works amazingly well and is VERY affordable.
Crestron is an intelligent controller that can be programmed to do just about anything on a ‘per customer’ basis. Crestron can do this since Crestron processors include IR outputs, relay outputs, serial I/O, digital I/O, IP ports and of course its own Cresnet port. Cresnet is how Crestron communicates to other Crestron devices. Crestron creates a plethora of incredible products offering lighting control, temperature control, device control, vidoe distribution, audio distribution, audio/video sources and much more. When customers start asking ”can we make STARDOT systems do this” or “can we make STARDOT systems do that” then our answer is “YES - with Crestron!”.
So, what is STARDOT’s solution between these two great manufacturers? Simple - All customers get HAI to control their security, temperature integration, misc device control, lighting and remote phone access and then we use Crestron solutions for the PERFECT audio/video solutions and control. STARDOT provides custom drivers that allow all of our Crestron interfaces to control ALL aspects of the HAI system. This architecture provides the BEST of BOTH manufactures while lowering the overall price for the complete soluton. The price is lower because HAI provides a lot of bang for the buck and this functionality does not need to be repeated from Crestron’s equipment. Now there are customers that choose to utilize Crestron for ALL system functionality except the security. This is fine. STARDOT is ultimately about providing YOU options! Our hybrid HAI and Crestron solution works magnificently and saves YOU money so why not give it a try today!
Typical scenario #1: A STARDOT customer has HAI installed in their home to operate security, lighting, garage doors, temperature zones with no Crestron for the first phase. The customer then decides to finish their custom home theater. STARDOT programs up a slick Crestron wireless interface to provide seamless one-touch contol. Now STARDOT can program in this control to ALSO control the HAI temperature zones, security, lighting and more from the SAME panel! Yep - pretty cool stuff.
Some folks have asked us why we decided that HAI products should
comprise the bulk of our premier line.
Simple question. Simple answer: Quality!
We have found that no other home automation products compare to the
quality of HAI for the price. It’s easy for us, or really anyone for
that matter, to cut corners when it comes to price. Lots of products
are available at lower cost, and some have just as many features as
HAI products. But the MTBF (mean time between failure) for other
products is so low that considering them for a home automation project
is the same as accepting unreliability. We choose not to even take the
time to look at that option when it comes to safety, security, comfort
and reliability.
In addition to the quality of the manufacturing, we looked also at the
flexibility of these products: not only do they offer a huge range of
options, features and adaptability, they also can be configured to use
various types of existing cabling, or can use the latest and greatest
cabling options you decide to use in your installation.
